Deep Town drops a whole industrial operation in your lap and expects you to coordinate mining bots, crafting chains, and greenhouse timers without much hand-holding. The base game makes you wait for resource trickles to afford each new drill depth or building upgrade. That means a lot of idle time before you unlock the next zone. The modded version hands you unlimited money upfront, so you can skip the week-long grind and start testing out drones and asteroid rockets without replaying the same three resource loops. And the idle clicker label doesn’t really fit—it’s more a factory sim that happens to involve digging.
Ten Depth Layers, Then You Terraform the Whole Planet
Different ores and story artifacts show up at each depth, and you need specific bot upgrades to crack through tougher ground. The game treats progression like unlocking rooms in a building: you reach the crust, then the mantle, then stranger stuff that hints at buried lore. But the real hook is the terraforming endgame, where you’re supposed to reshape the planet after mining it hollow. The final progress bar takes about forty minutes of idle time to fill.
Crafting Chains That Multiply Faster Than You Can Track
You don’t just mine iron and sell it. You smelt iron into bars, combine bars with coal to make steel, feed steel into a factory that spits out circuits. Then you use circuits plus three other materials to build a component that unlocks a drone hangar. The web of dependencies gets messy fast, and the game doesn’t pause production while you’re figuring out what bottleneck is choking your output. Greenhouses need rainwater from collectors, but collectors need power, and power needs coal. Coal mining needs bots you haven’t built yet because you’re short on copper. And then you realize you forgot to craft the seeds.
