A body drops somewhere in the mansion. Nine other guests are standing around pretending they didn’t see it happen. Two of them are lying through their teeth. The rest are trying to figure out who before they get picked off one by one. And that’s the setup, playing out in real time with actual people on the other end of the line.

Tasks First, Then the Accusations Start

Split into two parts every round. First half: everyone scatters to complete small investigative tasks around the mansion. Fixing a chandelier, dusting for prints, checking security footage. Standard busy work that puts bodies in different rooms at different times. Then someone finds the corpse and the talking phase kicks in. Voice chat opens up and everyone starts pointing fingers. Where were you standing? Who did you see near the library? Why were you alone in the east wing? The modded version makes these confrontations less punishing if you’re still learning tells and timing. But you’ll memorize the common lies by your fifth match.

Who’s Faking and Who’s Just Bad at This

The killers are doing tasks too, blending in until they can isolate someone and take them out. After the body gets reported, they’re stuck lying about their movements while everyone else tries to poke holes in the story. Vote wrong and you toss an innocent guest out of the mansion. This pushes the killers closer to winning. Vote right and you shrink the suspect pool. But most groups vote based on who sounds nervous, not who was actually near the body.

Friends or Strangers, Same Problem

Matchmaking pairs you with players at a similar skill bracket, or you can pull together a private group. Either way, someone’s going to accuse someone else of acting weird for no reason. And half the group will follow along because they didn’t see anything useful. The developer keeps adding new maps and tasks, which sounds good until you realize it just means more rooms to check. More excuses pile up for the killers to use when they’re cornered.

Rinse, Repeat Until Someone Cracks

The loop doesn’t change much between rounds. Complete tasks, find body, argue, vote, repeat until the innocents outnumber the killers or the other way around. But it works because the tension comes from the people, not the mechanics. When someone’s voice cracks just a little too hard defending themselves, that’s when it gets interesting. You’ll hear a player stammer through an alibi they clearly made up three seconds ago.
