The first screen is a patch of red dirt with a single prefab structure and a colonist standing around waiting for orders. Tapping opens a construction menu where roads get laid down tile by tile, then residential pods, then a few decorative shrubs that supposedly make the place less depressing. Within a minute there’s a dirt path connecting two buildings. And a popup announces that someone wants to move in. It’s Kairosoft doing what Kairosoft does, except this time the theme is space colonization instead of hot springs or game dev studios.
Alien Tourists Land Before Your First Building Is Finished
Alien visitors start landing once the colony hits a certain size. They wander the streets, rate the amenities, and leave behind currency if they’re satisfied. Hostile creatures also spawn on the map, which means selecting your colonists and ordering them to attack before the weird blob things chew through your infrastructure. Combat is extremely hands-off—just tap a unit, tap an enemy, watch numbers tick down. The modded version hands out unlimited money from the start. So instead of waiting through dozens of in-game months to afford better housing or defensive structures, you can lay down the premium stuff immediately. The endgame colony becomes visible in the first hour instead of the twentieth.
Everything Costs Multiple Currencies
There’s regular money for buildings, research points for unlocking new construction options, and a separate material counter for roads. And the research tree branches into tech that buffs colonist stats or opens up fancier structures. But progression still hinges on waiting for enough income to tick in or grinding through repetitive battles against the same three enemy types.
The Galaxy Map Just Repeats the Same Loop on Different Colored Dirt
A starmap becomes available after establishing the first colony. You can send a ship to another planet and start over with a fresh plot of land. Each planet has different terrain colors and slightly tweaked alien species, but the core loop stays identical—build roads, plop down houses, wait for aliens to visit, fight off hostiles when they spawn. The game doesn’t introduce new mechanics on later planets. Just higher stat requirements and bigger maps. Pinch-to-zoom feels sluggish when the colony sprawls past twenty buildings.
